Origins and beginnings of The Saguaro Lotus Emporium

The Origins and beginnings of the Saguaro Lotus Emporium is quite an amazing and Inspiring story.

I grew up in a very warm and loving family, I'm of Jamaican - Cuban origin. My mother was a very successful Fashion Designer and had her own business in Jamaica in the 1950s' and 60s'.

From a young child growing up One always saw her cutting up all kinds of beautiful exotic pieces of fabric(s) in order to sew up some unique and stunning outfits fit for a King and Queen. So the house always had a smell of fabrics and yarns as well as the aroma of delicious Jamaican cuisine.

I remember my older siblings and I helping my mother put together some of her amazing creations by boxing out sleeve cuffs and other exciting things. So from a very young age I was always making clothes for my dolls while realising that I had a super talent and blessed with various gifts.

At Fourteen I was inspired to design the label " Ecstacy Elegance", from then onwards I knew that I wanted to pursue and build a career in the field of Fashion Design, Textiles and the Arts.

I then went on to study Art and Design at Barnet College and then went on to study further at the Central School of Fashion and recieved various diplomas. While working with a variety of Fashion companies I started to work freelance and take part in a few fashion shows.

I then did a few teacher training courses which led to One teaching in various adult educational colleges.

Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 and my whole outlook to life changed completely. I developed a more holistic and healthy approach to my whole being and persona hence changing the brand name of the business to the "Saguaro Lotus Emporium - Iam the Vine - Ye are the Branches". The Saguaro Cactus is a healing plant and food meaning the message behind the brand of the Saguaro Lotus Emporium is that of holistic health, healing and wellness as well as aesthetically beautiful and well made products.

The label Ecstacy Elegance is still used alongside other labels that have been developed - They all come under the Saguaro Lotus Emporium brand.
